Sleep Hack Of The Week

Can we just admit it?

You and me, right now.

We are ADDICTED to our phones.

We love to look at them, play on them, read on them.

We’re like kids with a new shiny toy.

Except the toy is a blue LED screen that acts as a dopamine lottery machine.

And it’s not just you and me that’s addicted … it’s society.

Don’t believe me?

Take public transport into work one morning.

Look around at how many people are glued, hypnotised, fixated on their phones.

Tech has many benefits, but being present to your surroundings certainly isn’t one of them.

Now, I don’t want to seem like I’m complaining.

What people decide to do in their spare time is their business.

But if it’s impacting their sleep quality!?

I will not allow it!

We all know you should stop looking at your phone at least 30 minutes before bed.

The reflecting light keeps your brain engaged, making it hard to switch off once you close your eyes.

But there’s something else you need to consider:

Where you place your phone before you go to bed matters!

My advice to you is to turn your phone onto airplane mode before bed.

And keep it on the floor or away from your head.

Please, for the love of god, don’t have your phone placed on your bed side table.

Why?

Because your wifi-connected phone emits EMF waves (Electric Magnetic Field) that can affect your sleep patterns and disrupt brain activity.

And as wifi networks become larger and more powerful, exposure to your resting body and brain is bad for your long term health.

The good news?

It sounds like the impact to your brain and overall health is marginal.

Tests show that disruption or interference with the brain is minimal.

But as my papa would always say… it’s better to be safe than sorry.

And it’s not like you need your phone close to you anyway, unless for emergency.

So before you go to bed tonight, switch your phone to airplane mode and throw it far away from your bed like it’s no ones business.

 Interesting Sleep Fact

Do you ever feel like you can’t remember anything?

No matter how hard you try or how many times you write something down, it just doesn’t stick?

You aren’t alone.

Unless I go full Bart Simpson style on a white board, I can’t remember anything.

This is what our readers are like…

Well, it may be because of your sleep.

After you learn something new, 3 days of sufficient sleep is required to actually commit it to your long term memory

This fact is from Matthew Walker’s ‘Why We Sleep’ novel.

Once again, it shows that sleep is KING.

The memorisation benefits of prioritising your sleep are outstanding, and it proves how beneficial quality sleep is to your learning and growth potential.

It’s a fact few people care to acknowledge, but plays a big role in your learning capacity.

So remember.

Sleep is VERY important in a situations where you must learn (eg. exams or work conference) to ensure you retain enough information.

Oh boy.

It’s started.

Europe pictures are starting to appear all over my Instagram.

And while I’m not going anywhere (COZO needs building!), travel season is fast approaching (how is it already nearly June?).

But when I think of travelling, all I can think of is one thing.

The amount of random places you sleep that aren’t your own bed.

Plane seats, hotel beds, buses, trains - you name it.

And what’s worse than jet lag?

Still sleeping badly once you get over it.

I don’t want you to be unprepared.

You need the best sleep companion, so you can fall asleep easy in any situation.

So we’ve got a little special travel deal for you.
