Sleep Hack Of The Week

Just like my 60 year old football coach used to say… if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

And as your sleep coach (let me have it), that advice stands.

Consistency is key, especially for sleep tricks that are working for you.

So ask yourself.

Has your sleep changed from good to great?

Epic.

Keep going.

I’ve had many subscribers reach out when a sleep hack has worked for them (I love this btw).

BUT.

If you are new around here, don’t fret.

We can’t let the old subscribers have their cake and eat it too, can we?

So here are all the sleep hacks shared so far!

Trust me, they work.

Ok, enough about the past.

What’s todays hack, you ask?

Sunlight.

“Sunlight as a sleep hack, are you stupid?”, I can hear you ask in disbelief.

Am I stupid?

Well, that’s definitely debatable.

But am I right about the sun and it’s benefit on your sleep?

You betcha.

A number of doctors have explained that exposure to sunlight, especially in the mornings, actually has great results for your sleep later in the day.

I wish my office looked like this…

Sleep performance revolves around your circadian sleep rhythm, which I’ve talked about a few times here.

Essentially, when you get sunlight exposure on your face and body in the mornings, it actually resets your body’s inner sleep clock.

It essentially tells your body:

a. Hey… it’s the morning now, it’s time to wake up;

b. To start the clock ticker for night time

Think of the sun like that guy who shoots the gun to start a race.

If the gun is never shot, the athlete never knows when the race begins or ends.

Your body is the same with it’s circadian rhythm and sunlight.

I love this quote from PHD psychologist Michael Brues, man far more smarter than me that you should definitely listen to.

“Every single human, just as soon as possible after waking up, should go outside and get at least 15 minutes of direct natural light. Period.”

That’s all I needed to hear!

So get some sun early in the mornings.

You’ll get to sleep faster.

 Interesting Sleep Fact

This fact blew my mind.

And not in the “woah that’s awesome!” kind of way.

More so in the “wow, that’s sad and a missed opportunity” kind of way.

The sleep fact:

Over 33% of adults get less than 7 hours of sleep a night

In case you didn’t know, adults NEED at least 7-8 hours of sleep a night.

This fact means that one third of our population:

a. Must feel exhausted and tired every day;

b. Are less happy in their life than they could be;

c. Are far, far less productive

Now granted, there are many reasons why 1/3 of people aren’t sleeping enough.

Some are unavoidable. I get that.

But in a world full of distractions at every turn + a tiny hand-held device that possesses endless amounts of content, we can’t get out of our own way.

And for this generation and the next, who practically are born with an Iphone in their hand?

It’s not good for our long term health.

I worry that the 33% will continue to climb and have mass repercussions on our society.

But what’s an easy, simple way to start counteracting this?

Implementing a well defined and consistent sleep routine.

If you don’t know where to start, I got you.

We went down the rabbit hole of sleep routines and how to get started here.

Prioritise your sleep.

The TV show or social media drama will always be there waiting for you the next morning.

Building in Public - Founder Updates

Building a business from the ground up is hard.

In the beauty and wellness space, where competition is high, it can be a slog.

Add to that the rising cost of living.

Which forces potential customers to allocate their priorities elsewhere (understandably!).

Plus, our own rising costs to produce, market and sell our magnificent products - things aren’t easy.

But the one thing that keeps us going?

The positive feedback from the COZO community.

So today, I wanted to share a few amazing reviews we’ve received over the last few weeks from all of you 🙂

These make the hard days worth continuing!

🥁 And, a drumroll for my personal favourite….

I feel you Josie… I feel you.

If you are yet to leave a review, brighten up my day and leave one here 😀

It takes less than a minute.

That’s all for this week.

Until next time 💤
